Bachelor Degrees
The School of Economics offers two Bachelor degrees:
- Bachelor of Economics
- Bachelor of Finance (in partnership with the Business School)
Each degree usually takes three years to complete on a full-time basis. Many Bachelor of Economics (B.Ec.) and Bachelor of Finance (B.Fin.) students are studying for a combined or double degree. These usually take 4-6 years to complete, if the appropriate combination of courses is taken. Please use the following links to find out more.

Honours
Each year, outstanding students who have completed the Bachelor of Economics degree are invited to participate in our internationally recognised Honours program. This one-year program is designed to provide thorough research training. The small class sizes allow students to experience rigorous, individual focused instruction, and research collaboration with an academic mentor leading to the honours thesis. The program is targeted at students who wish to undertake further education at the Master and Doctorate levels and who aspire research intensive careers in the Reserve Bank, State Treasury, finance and consulting.
We take immense pride in the success of our honours graduates, many of whom went on to receive further education at prestigious international universities and are now enjoying distinguished careers in both government and private sectors.
Eligibility for the Honours Degree in Economics is dependent on required courses that are outlined in the pathway and information sheet below. Students who started their degree before 2008, or who are in double degrees should contact the Economics Program Adviser for individual advice. The Economics Program Adviser is located in the Professions Undergraduate Hub, Ground Floor Nexus 10, or you could send an email.
